Zapier: BoomTown Actions

Step-by-step guide to setting up BoomTown as a Trigger in Zapier to automate actions in other apps.

What is a BoomTown Trigger?

A BoomTown Trigger is an event in BoomTown that automatically starts a Zap. When the Trigger fires, Zapier performs a connected Action in another app — for example, sending a Slack message or adding a subscriber to MailChimp.

For a full list of available BoomTown Triggers, see the Zapier Overview & Getting Started article.

How do I set up a BoomTown Trigger in Zapier?

Step 1: Log in to Zapier

Log in to your Zapier account at zapier.com, or from within BoomTown by navigating to your name and profile image in the upper right corner, selecting Integrations, scrolling to the Zapier section, and selecting Log In.

Step 2: Create a new Zap

Once logged in, select the Create Zap button from the left-hand menu.

Step 3: Select BoomTown as your Trigger app

In the Trigger step, search for BoomTown in the App Event field and select it from the results.

Step 4: Choose your Trigger Event

Select the event you want to use as your Trigger from the Event drop-down.

The available BoomTown Trigger events are:

  • New Lead

  • Category Changed

  • Tag Added

  • Tag Removed

  • To-Do Created

  • Call Logged

  • Email Received

  • Text Received

  • Lead Asked Question

Select your event and click Continue.

Step 5: Connect your BoomTown account

Select Choose an Account to link your BoomTown account to the Zap.

Important: Make sure you are already logged into your BoomTown account in the same browser before completing this step.

If this is your first time connecting BoomTown to Zapier, select + Connect a New Account and follow the prompts. A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the connection — select Continue.

Step 6: Test your Trigger

Once connected, click Continue and then select Test Trigger. Zapier will pull in a recent sample record from BoomTown to use for the rest of the Zap setup. Select your preferred sample and click Continue.

Step 7: Select your Action app and complete setup

You will now be prompted to choose the app you want Zapier to take action in when the Trigger fires — for example, Slack, MailChimp, or Google Sheets. Follow the steps within Zapier to complete the Action setup for your chosen app.

Once you have finished setup and testing, name your Zap and make sure the toggle is turned on (green) so it runs automatically going forward.

How do I filter by a specific Trigger value?

If you want your Zap to fire only for a specific value — such as a particular To-Do type or lead category — you will need to add a Filter step between the Trigger and Action.

To add a filter:

  1. After completing the Trigger step, select Filter from the Built-in Tools list when prompted to choose an Action.

  2. In the first drop-down, select the field you want to filter on (for example, Todo Type or New Category Name).

  3. In the second drop-down, select (Text) Contains.

  4. In the text field, enter the specific value you want to filter for.

To filter for multiple values, select the OR option below the filter to add additional conditions.

Available To-Do types for filtering: Arrival Date, Call, Closing, Custom Task, Email, Fax, Follow-up, Mail, Meeting, Open House, Showing, Text, Thank You

Available Category values for filtering: New, Qualify, Hot, Nurture, Watch, Pending, Closed, Archive, Trash

Note: The To-Do Created Trigger does not fire for Completed To-Dos.

Pre-built BoomTown Trigger templates

BoomTown offers pre-built templates for the most common Trigger-based Zaps. These are available on the BoomTown page in Zapier and include:

  • Send Slack channel or direct messages when a To-Do is created in BoomTown

  • Add, update, or unsubscribe MailChimp subscribers when a lead's category changes in BoomTown

For step-by-step setup instructions for each template, see the BoomTown Trigger Templates articles.
